Melanie’s understanding of excellent, client centered service and attention to detail stems from her extensive background in sales and marketing, construction, funeral service and insurance.

Melanie opened her own company, Hughes Construction in 1982. Throughout its operation, Hughes Construction successfully wrote and managed contracts for Johnson Concrete and Dozer Co. until it gained “On Call Status” for the Allstate Catastrophe team. From that acquisition, Melanie was recruited and became a 25 year career Allstate Agency Owner with 95% overall client satisfaction while servicing 1500+ policies. Many of the families that new she was a funeral director would call on her to oversee the special, compassionate care of them and their Beloveds in time of need. She simply could never say no!

When she is not busy with real estate, Melanie enjoys traveling with her husband, Jesse of 28 years who is also a Realtor; and daughter, Iciss Rose Tillis. Along with her career, Melanie is proud to have guided Iciss to finish a stellar academic and basketball career at Duke University - Economics, Thurgood Marshall School of Law - JD and Columbia University - Dual Master’s Degrees - LLM Global Sports Law and Sports Management; WNBA, and FIBA International All Star. Melanie also assists single young women with children develop meaningful careers and successful children.
